Glee star Chris Colfer has signed a two-book deal with Little Brown, solidifying his status as a bona fide triple threat.
The actor and singer will pen The Land of Stories, a novel for young readers ages 8-12, for a summer 2012 release. The Land of Stories follows twins Alex and Conner Bailey who, with the help of a cherished book of stories, transport themselves to a magical world filled with all of the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.
A second yet-to-be-titled novel will follow.
“When I was 10 years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” Colfer said in a statement. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”
The Land of Stories is just one of a handful of ventures Colfer is working on. Aside from his starring role as Kurt Hummel on Glee, Colfer wrote the screenplay for his upcoming feature film debut, Struck by Lightning, and wrote a Disney Channel pilot based on the children’s book, The Little Leftover Witch. The Golden Globe winner is currently on tour with the Glee cast.
Now if someone could just get this guy a nap!
